Volunteer Vaccinations

from TUSD September 27, 2021.

Dear Tustin Unified School District Community:

One of the many special features of Tustin Unified schools is the number of adults who support students and staff in so many ways. Volunteers make a dramatic difference in the school experience of our students. To protect the health and safety of students and staff, the state will require all adults to either be vaccinated for COVID or submit a negative COVID test to be on campus by October 15, 2021. Please read the update below carefully. Our goal is to make this process as easy as possible so our wonderful volunteers can continue their important service.

On August 11, 2021, the California Department of Public Health issued a Health Officer Order requiring all employees in public and private school schools serving students in grades TK through 12 to provide proof of being fully vaccinated for the COVID virus or submit a weekly negative COVID test beginning October 15, 2021. The order can be found here:  Order of State Public Health Officer

For the purposes of this order, “workers” includes “volunteers who are on site at a school campus supporting school functions.” This will include adults who volunteer in classrooms, in on-campus PTA events such as appreciation luncheons and awards events, in snack bars at sporting events, etc. If you need clarification whether your volunteer service is covered under this order, please contact your school office.

Please click on this Google Form in order to upload photo proof of vaccination.  Without this step, volunteers will need to submit a photo showing a negative COVID test (using the same form) within a week prior of volunteering on any school campus.  Volunteers may get COVID tests through the District’s testing clinics that take place every Tuesday at Tustin High School, 1171 El Camino Real (at the back “overflow” parking lot of the high school located on the corner of Orange St. and San Juan St.) and every Thursday at Beckman High School, 3588 Bryan Avenue (at the basketball courts located in the back of the school off of El Camino Real).  In the event you are unable to upload proof of vaccination or negative test result, you may email the photos (along with your volunteer site and full name on the subject line) to vax@mytusd.org, and a staff member will assist you in completing the form.

Thank you again for helping to protect the health and safety of Tustin Unified students and staff, and for the service you provide as a volunteer.
