This is an exciting time for our 8th graders as they celebrate their accomplishments and prepare for graduation. This page provides a summary overview of key 8th grade promotion events and activities.


Class of ‘25 Promotion Ceremony

Thursday, May 22 - 6pm

The ceremony will take place on Thursday, May 22, at Hewes on the quad stage at 6pm. Students will report to the back gates (by their P.E. classes) at 5:15pm.

  • The front gate will open at 5:30PM. Seating is first come, first served - Come early.

  • Anyone holding balloons or other sight-obstructing items will be asked to stand in the back.

  • No noise makers or air horns permitted.

  • Dress code for promotion is semi formal. T-shirts and jeans are not encouraged

8th Grade Dance

 

Friday, May 23, from 6pm - 9pm at Hewes

  • There will be food, dancing, games, photo opportunities, etc. Something for everyone!

  • The dance is from 6 PM to 9 PM, with check in beginning at 5:30 PM

  • GLOW UP! Wear white or neon. Dress code for boys & girls is semi-formal. T-shirts and jeans are not allowed. 

  • No excessively loose or baggy pants/shorts. 

  • No chains or dangerous jewelry/objects. 

  • For girls, please make sure no midriffs are exposed and dresses must have 2 straps (one on each shoulder) and no backs. The back of the dress should be no lower than shoulder blade level.  No mini skirts/ dresses, please.

  • The dance will be chaperoned by Hewes Administration and 6th/7th grade parents.

  • For your child’s safety, do not arrange rides via Uber/Lyft, or any trollies.

Disney California Adventure Trip

Tuesday, May 27 - 8:30am to 7:45pm
Ticket sales closed

Students must arrive at school at the regular start time and will return to Hewes at approximately 7:45pm, unless they have turned in a permission slip for late release - NO EXCEPTIONS. Please complete the permission slip for late release and turn it in to the front office by May 10.

Students must arrive to the park on the Hewes bus. No other students are allowed to attend. *If you are not eligible to attend this trip (per Hewes promotion guidelines for academics and behavior) you may not join your classmates at Disneyland California Adventure Park. Progressive discipline for ineligible students seen at the park will be pursued, impacting a student’s high school status.*

Chaperones will be available at an assigned location until 7pm, in case students need assistance.

Important Reminders:

  • The Hewes dress code applies to this trip.

  • All bags will be checked at the entrance for security purposes. PARENTS, please pre-screen your student’s belongings. They will be responsible for all items brought into Disneyland.

  • No items are to be left on the bus during the day.

  • Disneyland does allow outside food or beverages to be brought into the park, but does not allow glass containers, bags larger than a standard backpack or coolers larger than a lunch sack. See the Disneyland website for more information about what is allowed in the park.

  • Sunscreen, hats and comfortable shoes are HIGHLY recommended.
